Walker-NC-GA-TN-1825 Elijah WALKER b 1850 - 1870 + Mary Elizabeth "Piney" McGILL This couple were in NC/GA border area for a while, then moved to Maury and Dickson Counties in TN. They lived on the Little Piney River. There is some confusion about when and where Elijah Walker died, but Mary Elizabeth "Piney" Walker's estate was administered on 6 Jan 1825: Court records indicate that Elizabeth gave two slaves to two of her children: a slave girl to Elijah, named Ailee, and a slave boy to George. Stipulations on the slave girl given to Elijah were such: that the first born child of Ailee was to be given to his siter, Polly Brazzell; the second child of Ailee was to be given to Elijah's sister, Elizabeth Heartly, and the third child to his sister Retha Turner (?). Elijah should have any children more than three for himself. Later Archilbald Walker came to court and said that Elizabeth Walker was of unsound mind when she gave the slaves to Elijah and George. The first time in court, he lost, but he brought it back to court a second time and won. Contributed by: (Janis Walker Gilmore) jgilmore@sccoast.net
