Elizabeth (Hartness) Tomlinson (husband Capt Joseph Tomlinson) was born 2 Mar 1757 MD, died 1 May 1841 Williamstown, Wood, (W)Va. Her will is in Marshall County (W)Va and is readily available.

Will dated 23 Jun 1830
To my mulatto woman Clare I devise in fee simple 50 acres of land adjoining land sold by Jesse Tomlinson ... the same being where said Clare now lives.
To Sarah Catlett (no relation stated) my black girl Mary

Codicil dated same day
... that my mulatto woman Clare and her two children Johnston and Julia Ann, and my mulatto boy Noah be free at my death saving that my executors or any two of them shall have the power of binding said Noah to some trade (with the usual  provides of clothing and education contained in indentures of apprenticeship) until said Noah shall attain the age of 24 years.
