Certificate of Importation of Slaves

Certificate of the Importation of certain Slaves into this
commonwealth by Saml Staples
I do hereby certify that I have brought into this
commonwealth from the State of No. Carolina the following
slaves to wit,
... SAMPSON a male salve aged about 34 years,
... NELSON a male slave aged about 20 years.
... MARY a female salve bright complexion aged about 3
years.
... MIMA a female slave aged about 15 years of dark
complexion.
... PATSY a female slave aged about 8 years.
... WILLIAM a male slave of bright complexion about 5 years.
... NANCY a female slave of bright complexion aged about 4
years and
... FONTAINE a male salve aged about 8 months of light
complexion
and that the said slaves have not been brought into this
commonwealth to prevent the future importation of Slaves or
in any manner contrary to the provisions of an at of
assembly inhibiting the introduction of slaves into the said
Commonwealth given under my hands and seal this 12th day of
March 1807.

This day Samuel Staples personally appeared
before a Justice of the peace for the county and made oath
thatthe foregoing statement contains facts and truth. Given
under my hand in the said county this 12 day of March 1807
