Estate of Malechi Stanton, Filed Dec. 1836, No 780: The filing conists of an inventory and appraisal of the Estate. There was a public auction held during which it appears that the properties of the Estate were sold to family members. The record, which is preceeded by the inventory and appraisal, is as follows: State of Louisisna Parish of St Landry Being thereto requisted by the interexecutor, I George King Parish Judge & ex-officio auctioneer in & for the aforsaid Parish have this day the twenty sixth of January in the Year one thousand eight hundred & thirty seven, (the weather having been too inclement yesterday) proceeded to the plantation & last residence of the late Malechi Staunton deceased, situated in the aforsaid Parish and distant about twenty five miles from the court house, in order to sell at public auction all the property belonging to the sucession of said deceased, & in community between his widow & heirs, on the following terms and conditions, towit, the negro man NERO & __?__ & the leather in and out of tan payable on the first day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred & thirty eight, and the balance of the property on the first day of March next ( 1837) purchaser giving approved security & the land & slaves remainning Mortgaged to the Estate until the entire payment of the purchase money & the interest which may accrue thereon, it being stipulated (?) and understood that all sums not punctually paid will bear interest from maturity until the payment thereof at the rate of ten percent per annum --- The Sale having been advertised according to Law and the terms & conditions proclaimed about to the people in attendance we have proceeded to sell to the last and highes bidders as follows towit, First --- A negro man named FREDERICK aged about thirty- five years sold to Louis Guidry file(?) for seventeen hundred dollars seventy file(9) & Rosimond Guidry $1700 lsil Rosimond Guidry Louis Guidry 2nd.
