Singleton-KY-Will-1833 WILL OF MASON SINGLETON Will Book D, page 410, Jessamine County, Kentucky I, Mason Singleton, of Jessamine County and State of Kentucky, do make this my last will and testament, and publish the same. First, I will my wife, Fanny, and my son, Waller, the home place, a block house with one hundred and ten acres of land attached thereto. .......... It is my wish that my wife, Fanny, have the following slaves: Nancy, Nan, Jane, Rachel, etc., given as per proportion of the slaves, with such stock as she may choose to the amount of one-fourth of every kind, and kitchen furniture, farming tools, etc. ... I will that my son, Jeremiah, have the land where he now lives, also Suck with her increase, the land at twenty-five dollars per aces, and Suck and child at two hundred dollars, he having paid the balance of her price. ... My son, Moses, to have Sam and what I paid for the land he sold to Merit Singleton at twelve hundred dollars, and the balance of property agreeable to a list which I have recorded for each child as having received heretofore, ... ... and Merit to have Lewis with child as having been received heretofore, and with what I paid for his land at one thousand dollars; the other property as listed and also the balance of the Williams place at twenty dollars per acre; and also twenty acres of land adjoining Merit's place at twenty-five dollars per acre. ... My daughter, Lucy, to have Mitty and Eve at six hundred dollars with the property as listed. ... My daughter, Jane, to have Winny at two hundred and fifty dollars and other property as listed heretofore. ... Mason to have May at two hundred dollars and one hundred for Ginny which he sold and property as listed. ... I will Joel W. Singleton the stone house where Mother lives, with so much of the home place beginning in Lewis Singleton's line running near the spring northwestwardly, so as to give him one hundred ten acres, ... ... and I give to Joel, Lewis and Jerry, the land to be valued at twenty-five dollars per acre. ... I will unto Waller Singleton the land assigned in this will for him and his mother (/) as also Peter, the land to be valued at twenty-five dollars per acre. It is my last will that Elizabeth Price be made equal in every respect with the rest to my children. It is my understanding of my above will that if the sale of the surplus property is not sufficient to make all my children equal, that those who have received the most shall respond (?) back until all have received an equal proportion of my estate.
