SEVERALLY, Rose VA Co Court Records, 1756 A day in Court in Orange County in 1756. 23d April. The Last Will and Testament of JOHN BROCKMAN, deceased, was presented in Court by MARY BROCKMAN, Widow, and SAMUEL BROCKMAN, Heir at Law of the Decedent who approved and consent to the Will, they being the Executors therein named, and proved by the Oaths of ROGER BELL and SAMUEL BROCK-MAN JUNR., witnesses thereto according to Law, Certificate is granted them for obtaining Letters of Probate in due form giving security which with JOHN WISDOM and REUBIN HARRIS their Securities entered into and acknowledged their Bond according to Law in the sum of two hundred pounds. REUBIN DANIEL, MALACHI CHILES, ROGER BELL, JOSEPH WOOLFOLK and JOHN EMBRIE or any three of them to appraise the slaves and personal Estate of JOHN BROCKMAN, deced. On the motion of REUBEN DANIEL and ANTHORIT his Wife, Executors of PETER MOUNTAGUE, deceased, and JOHN STEVENS, who intermarried with SARAH, one of the Decedent's daughters, it is ordered that RICHARD THOMAS, ELIJAH MORTON JOHN PENDLETON and ROGER BELL settle the Account of the administration of the Estate. REUBIN DANIEL is by the Court appointed Guardian to ELIZABETH MOUNTAGUE, Infant, Orphan of PETER MOUNTAGUE, deced. whereupon he with OWEN THOMAS as his security entered into Bond in the penalty of one hundred pounds for securing the Orphan's Estate and indemnifying the Court. ROSE SEVERALLY, a Negro woman with her Son, a boy named WILL, who were committed to the Goal of this County on suspicion of her being a runaway slave and for not declaring her Owner's name, she being brought before the Court examined and her several papers seen, the Court are of opinion that she with her Son be discharged it not appearing to them that she is a slave.
