SCOTT, MO, MISC, 1844 To whom it may concern: During the course of my research I was sent a copy of a photo of Mary Scott of Missouri. She lived in St. Louis area with the family of James Jennings and Ann Bradley Montague. I do not know where she was born, but know that the Jennings migrated from Cartersville, Cumberland Co., VA in late 1830s. By what has been passed on byword of mouth, approx. 40 African-Americans were with this family when they moved from VA to MO. Mary went to live and work for the family of Mary Jane (Jennings) and Abram Granville Switzer. She was said to have married and had children, but I know little else about her at this point. The Montague line goes back to 1624 to Peter Montague, who worked as an indentured servant after passage to the states from England in the Company of Samuel Matthews. The reason I give this history is so that the researcher may, if necessary trace back his/her ancestors through any records that might be available to them. I will be sending a copy of a photo of Mary Scott that was passed to me, to your archives via U.S. Postal Service. If I may be of any assistance to any doing related research, please contact me. I will be happy to help in whatever way possible. Slaveowner's name--James Jennings, Ann Bradley Montague ** After 1844--Mary Jane (Jennings) and Abram G.
