Robertson-AL-1847 Tuscaloosa County, Alabama Deed Book W, p. 273 Know all men by these presents that I William Robertson of the county and state aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by my negro man Levi the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and for the further consideration that said negro have been faithful slave and servant to me have and do by these presents give unto the said negro his freedom from me and my heirs forever as far as the laws of the state of Alabama and the ordinances of my incorperation will authorize and permit hereby freeing him from my service or the service of my heirs or assigns as fully and absolutely as I the said William Robertson and authorized to do as aforesaid the said negro man Levi being about the age of fifty five years colour yellow in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 25th day of October A D 1847.
