"Stith Parham of Sussex Co., being fully persuaded that
freedom is the natural right of mankind, emancipates
negroes."

Matthew Parham (the one m. Martha Wynne) made his will 2 Sep
1770 in Sussex Co., Va. and will was probated 21 Ma 1772. 
His will names the following slaves and the heirs who were
to receive them.

... Andrew a negro man to grandson Robert
... Simon a negro boy to grandson Robert
... Arthur a negro boy to grandson Robert
... Anaca a negro woman to grandson Robert
          If grandson Robert were to die before the age of
21 than Simon and Arthur to his mother Lucretia Parham to
her and her heirs and assigns. (Robert lived to be over 21)

... Ban or Ben a negro man to son in law William Wyne.
... Bet a negro woman to son inlaw William Wyne
... Winney a negro girl to granddaughter Ann Wynne dau. of
William Wyne.

To my loving wife Mary the following slaves:

CESAR my faithful servant to be sold by my Exrs. to any
person that he may choose.

All the negroes were supposed to have come by or were
descendants of negroes brought by wife Mary to her marriage
with Dr. Lewis Parham.  He had no slaves when he married his
wife.
Statement taken from the family bible of Lewis Parham, dec'd
relative to the births, etc of the slaves acquired by him
with his wife.
