Moore-MS-1834-Will Hope the following will help. The first piece is from the will of one of my xg.grandfathers. The area for all is Amite County, MS, close to the town of Liberty. Will of Samuel Moore Extracted from the Will of Samuel Moore, Amite County, MS, Sept, 1834. (I do have the whole thing typed up if you want it): ... further I give to my four beloved sons John Moore, William B. Moore, Allen Moore, and Thomas Lane Moore, and the fifth heir (unborn at the time of Sam'ls death) above mentioned, Twenty-two Negroes, named as follows, LITTLE JOE, PHILIP, LANDON, ADGER, DENNIS, BENJAMIN, SARAH, LITITIA, ABBY, LARINA, EVE, ANGELINE, LIZER, JOH, PETER, BUTLER, GIBSON, SAM, WARREN, MOSES, TOM, ... (I only count 21 here) ... Further if my daughter Martha Moore dies without an heir to her body, the Negroes deed to her named as follows, JOE, HANNAH, MALINA, HENRY, CLAIBORNE (as far as I know, Martha did die without issue, so these folks would have been returned to the brothers) ... also the Negroes deeded to Mary R. King (a daughter, married to Isaac S. King) named as follows, KITTY and CHARLOTTE ...also those deeded to Elizabeth Denman (dau., married to William Denman), named as follows: PEGGY, ISHMAHEL, SAME. If either of my three Daughters above mentioned dies without a bodily heir, their property shall be equally divided between my four sons John, William, Allen, Thomas L., and the heir above mentioned. ... I give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Sarah Ann Moore, now, Sarah Ann Marsalis, and Thomas Marsalis, her husband, four Negroes named as follows: BIG SARAH, STARLING, DRUCILLA, AND MINERVA, to be their right and property at my death.
