McLaurin-VA-Will-1845 William McLaurine - Will The will of William McLaurine was probated 7 Apr 1845 in Powatan County VA and says in part; Item 5, I give to grandson William, son of son Lewis, a negro man named Richard. Item 6, I give to grandson George, son of son Lewis, a negro boy named Reuben. Item 7, I give to my granddaughter Harriet W. McLaurine, who intermarried with Alexander M. Hewlett of Alabama, one negro boy John and negro man Alexander and a young woman Fanny, but do not give the negro woman Mary which my son Lewis, father of Harriet received from the estate of (blank) ELLIS at the time of Lewis' intermariage with the mother of said Harriet. Item 8, It is my will that my negro woman Nanny, who has been a faithful servant, may select among my children which one of them she may prefer to live with and to such child, I give her forever.
