McCoy- SC-1826-Will Will of John McCoy, Claremont County, Sumter Dist., SC In the Name of God Amen, I John McCoy of Claremont County, Sumter District & State of SC, Planter, being in as good health as usual & of sound & disposing mind memory & understanding do hereby make, consititute, and ordain this my last will & testament in manner and form following. ... First - I give devise & bequeath unto my Brother Redden McCoy the whole of my lands of every description that I have any claim or title too whatsoever the quantity may be or wheresoever it may lay; Also seven Negroes, Lydia and her six children Mills, Butler, Ben, Judy, Jenny, Philis & their Increase to him and his Heirs forever. ... Secondly - I give & bequeath unto my Nephew Elisha McCoy one Negro man named Anthony to him & his heirs forever. ... Thirdly - I give & beq. unto my Sister Elizabeth Pringle's Children four Negroes, old Philis, Amoretta, Jacob, & Philis, Junr. them and their increase to be equally divided betw/ them share & share alike to them & their Heirs forever. ... Fourthly - I give & beq. unto My Deceased Brother Lewis McCoy's children fifty dollars to be paid out of the money as soon as collected from the sale of my stock of cattle hogs & to be equally divided betw/ them & their Heirs forever to be paid out of the money as soon as collect. fr. the sales of my stock of cattle hogs etc. ... Fifthly - I give & beq. unto my Dec. Bro. Stephan McCoy's children fifty dollars to be equally divided betw/ them share & share alike to them & their Heirs forever to be paid out of the money as collect. fr. the sale ... (same as above) ... Sixthly - I give & beq. unto my Dec. Sister Celia Davis's children fifty dollars to be paid out of the money as soon as collect. fr. the sale ... (above) ... Seventhly - My wish & desire is that my Negro Man Jim have his choice for his Master either my Bro. Redden McCoy or my Nephew Elisha McCoy; which Negro I will & beq. to either of them as he may choose for his Master. ... Eighthly - My wish & desire is that the whole of my stock...& the whole of my perishable property not mentioned above to be sold & as soon as the money can be coll. that the above legacies be paid & all my just debts & the balance after ... w/all the remainder of my property of whatsoever description as may not be mentioned in the tenor of this will ... that I have claim to or title at my death, I give & beq. the whole to my Bro. Redden McCoy, his heirs forever. ... Ninthly - In further explaining this will & test, that is is my wish & desire that my Bro. Redden McCoy should have the whole remainder & residue of my prop. both real & personal ..., that I have right to at my death w/ the exceptions of the above legacies. ... -Lastly - I nominate appoint & constitute my Bro.
