KING Here is all I have on slaves owned by my King line: THE 1800s In about 1785-90 Bryan KING was born in VA or Sampson Co. NC. He died in 1835 and left a will in Sampson Co. NC. Bryan was married to Polly Slocumb and they had 4 children: Henry b. 1811 Clarisey b. 1813 *Barney(aka Barna, Barnabas) b. 1825 in Sampson Co. NC Sally(or Sarah) b. 1828 THE WILL In an effort to assit African American seekers I am including the following information. This is all the information I have except a listing of land acerage and some cash. I believe this information is recorded in the "Abstracts of Sampson Co. NC Wills" by Cora Bass 1784-1895...Recorded wills page 54. When Bryan King died he left the following slaves: ... To Polly he left a male, Irvin ... To Henry he left a male, Ned ... To Barney he left a female, Rachel ... To Clarisey he left a female, Priss ... To Sally he left a female, Lucy *Barney King married Emily ______(most likely RHODES). Emily was born in Wayne Co. NC. They were married about 1846-47 and in 1850 census they were living in Bentonsville Twp. in Johnston Co., NC. In the 1850 or 1860 census there was no mention of the family having a slave. I hope this can help someone. Contributed by: dlcr1@ibm.net 'Delores'
