Manumission by GODWIN heirs to Horace KING. 3 Mar 1859. "We the undersigned Heirs of John GODWIN and Mrs. Ann H. GODWIN and also being interested in a certain deed of trust made by John GODWIN late of said county and which included Horace KING and being satisfied that the said Horace KING was duly emancipated in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of Alabama and having mutually and for a valuable consideration agreed ... for a division of the Estate of the said Jno. GODWIN and also of the negroes in the trust deed mentioned, which should exclude Horace KING ... in consideration of the premises we solemnly declare and certify that the said Horace KING is duly emancipated and freed from all claims held by us."
