KEELING-AVERY-VA-1784 I believe our Keelings started out in the Norfolk area also. They ended up in Prince Edward. The one probate that lists the slaves by name is from Prince George Co. It is the Will of Edward Avery. His daughter married a Keeling and his will states - "To Elizabeth Keeling, daughter of George and Mary Ann Keeling - a negro girl Dilse. To Lucy Keeling, dau of above, negro girl Clary. To Mary Keeling, a dau. of above, a negro girl Cate. To Leonard Keeling, son of above, a negro boy Jim. To ann Avery Keeling, dau. of above, a negro girl Celia. To daughter Mary Ann Keeling Charlotte, daughter of negro Hannah and Jane, daughter of negro Sucky, to be emancipated at my death."
