...to wife Harriett the slaves CATHERINE, AMANDY, SAM and HARVEY at death of wife
...son Philip to have the girl CATHERINE and her increase.
Should sale of personal property not needed by wife on farm not be enough to pay just debts the negro boy HENRY to be sold to any heir paying the most for him. It is testator's desire that his slaves be treated humanely and not sold out of the family, and in hiring them, that they be put out to good places.
