HEATH NC Jacob Heath was born 1750 Massachusetts, Married 1787 North Carolina, Died 1816 probably in North Carolina Ralph Heath born 1792, North Carolina, Died 1861, last residence Muncie, Indiana. "After Jacob Heath married Mary Smith they moved from Roanoke to Guilford county N. C and settled on Rudy's fork, a branch of the ___adkin river about 10 miles north of Greensboro in the neighborhood of Dobsons crossroads where Beards hatter shop was located. Here Jacob Heath and wife raised a family of two sons and three daughters who grew to maturity, married and settled on farms in the neighborhood which he gave to each one reserving the home farm for himself and wife. "He owned two slaves named Nehemiah and Nellie who were to be sold at his death with the other property and he appointed his son Ralph as executor of his will. Ralph who was very much opposed to slavery arranged with a Mr. Davis who had never owned slaves to bid them off with the understanding that they were to work out their purchase price at so much per month afterwhich they were to be taken into free territory and set free. Under these terms the salves brought a very low price which was unsatisfactory to the sisters and their husbands." Source: The Heath Family History and Directory by Dr. S. W Heath, Sioux Falls, S.
