	George W. Harris (12 Sep 1817-14 May 1888) married
Pernetta Thigpen
(5 Nov 1819-13 Apr 1880) then widow of William Smith (d. 9
Oct 1841) on
13 Feb 1849.  They resided apparently in Pitt Co., NC and
kept their family 
records in a Holy Bible.  The births of six ofthe slaves of
this family are
recorded here:
