Peters-Gibbs-NC-Deed-1790

I came across this bill of sale in my research.  I hope it will be of help to someone.

State of North Carolina
Hyde County

Know all men by these presents that I Michael PETERS of the State and County aforesaid as a co-partner of David JONES Merchant in Washington of and in consideration of three hundred silver dollars to me in hand paid by Robert GIBBS senior of the aforesaid state and county have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Robert GIBBS senior his heirs or assigns forever
... a certain Negro wench named SYD about twenty three years of age which wench the above mentioned David JONES brought of Willoby NOAS also two small Negro girls the children of the aforesaid wench SYD
... one of the children named BET aged about four years old the other named MARY aged two years.  To have and to Hold the Negro wench SYD and the children BET and MARY together with there increase unto the said Robert GIBBS senior his heirs or assigns for ever and the said Michael PETERS for myself my heirs or assigns the said bargained promises with the appurtenances unto the said Robert GIBBS senior his heirs or assigns shall and will warrant and forever deferred against the claim of any person with soever.  In witness I have hereunto set my hand seal 17th May 1790.
