"In the name of God amen, I, Thomas Gardner of the County of Hanover do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following. 2. I give to my daughter Sallie M. Norment the proceeds arising from the sale of my negro girl Amy loaned to her soon after marriage which proceeds were used by her husband Wm. E. Norment in the purchase of another girl. 3. I leave to my son James B. Gardner during his the said J. B. Gardners life boy John son of Caroline and at the death of the said James B. Gardner I do give and bequeath the said boy John to the lawful heirs of the said James B. Gardner. 4. I give to my son Reuben E. Gardner....I do also loan to him negro boy Walker during the life of the said R. E. Gardner and at his death I do and bequeath the said boy Walker to the lawful heirs of the said Reuben E. Gardner. 5th. I loan to my daughter Harriet N. Gardner negro woman Caroline and her daughter Ellen and their increase during the life of my said daughter Harriet N. and at her death I do give and bequeath the said Caroline and her daughter Ella and their increase to the lawful heirs of my said daughter Harriet Gardner. 6th I do loan to my daughter Mary E. Gardner girl Louisa daughter of Caroline during the life of said Mary E. Gardner and at her death I do give and bequeath the said girl and her increase to the lawful heirs of the said Mary E. Gardner. 7 I do loan to my son Thomas Gardner my boy Charles son of Frances during the life of the said Thomas Gardener I do give and bequeath the said boy Charles ________ lawful heairs of the said Thomas Gardner. 9. I give to my son Thomas Gardner old man Christi. 10. I give to my daughter Sallie Norment old woman Janny. 11. I give to my son James B. Gardner old woman Betty. 12. I give to my daughter H. N. Gardner old woman Aggy. 13. I give to my son R. E. Gardner old woman Fanney. 14. I give to my daughter Mary e. Gardner woman Eliza. 15. It is my wish and desire that any remaining servants be equally divided among all my children to wit - Thomas Gardner, Sally M. Norment, James B. Gardener, Reuben E. Gardner, Harriet N. Gardenr and Mary E.
