The following post appeared in 2 issues: Saturday 17 Dec 1853 and Saturday 7 Jan 1854 Sale of Slaves. by virture of an Interlocutory order of the Hancock Circut Ct. in the petition in equity of Wm. Schooler and others against Edmund Fisher and Other, I, the undersigned, commissioner, will expose to public sale to the highest bidder, at the court house door in Hawesville, Ky., on Monday, the 26th day of December 1853, on a credit of t months, Four Negro Slaves, belonging to the estate of Stephen Fisher, deceased, to-wit: ... a negro man named Jack, ... and a newgro woman named Mary, ... and her two children, Lelia and Nancy. Bond and approved security required of the purchases, bearing interest from date to have the force and legal effect of a Rcplevin bond. Jas. E. Stone, Commissioner. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * A couple of comments: 1. I found it interesting that one posting was published apparently after the sale had actually occurred; 2. I have no idea what a Rcplevin bond is. I have read and re-read the microfilm and it is definitely spelled as above. Anyone know what it means?
