DENNIS-GA-1843 Will of Elizabeth Charlotte Berry Dennis The following is a list of the slaves mentioned in the Will of Elizabeth Charlotte Berry Dennis, who died in Butts Co. GA in 1843. Her husband was John Dennis of Jones Co GA, who died in 1833, so some of these slaves may have originated in that county. Eliz. Charlotte's father was David Berry of Butts. David Berry was my gggg grandfather. ... Jemima to sister Martha Berry Norris ... Sucky to sister Julia M. Berry Price ... Sillah to sister Mary Berry Bledsoe ... Rachel and Clark to Thomas J. Townsend, or, if certain financial arrangements are not met, to Dennis L. Townsend (relation to Eliz. Charlotte is unknown) ... Sarah, Eli, and Leroy to William, John, and James Armstrong and married Armstrong sisters Nancy and Sarah -- Sarah and Leroy are to be sold - (the Armstrongs are probably nieces and nephews of Eliz. Charlotte) ... old negro Cagey to John Greer with express understanding that Greer is to see to the support and maintenance of Cagey during his life, and is to make provision in his own will for the support of this negro, and is to retain money from Eliz. Charlotte's estate to use for the care of this negro Lafleur Genealogical Archives Specializes in the Internet Archival of Family Bible Records. http://www.lafleur.org I included as much info as the will provided on where the slaves went. I would be happy to hear from anyone who has roots with this family or anyone who wants what further info I have on the people mentioned above. I will continue to post info on slaves to this list as I come across it. -- Ava Contributed by: "Betteye" bbolden@tir.com By way of: "Ava H. Nackman" ava_nackman@ibm.net
