"In 1857 Nathan DeHart and son Morgan drew up a legal agreement in which Morgan was to have the use of his father's land for seven years . . . he (Morgan) is also require to care for his father and mother, excepting their food and clothing . . . Nathan gave Morgan a two year old Negro child for the payment of waiting on them."
