In the name of God I Benjamin Cowan in the County of Rowan and State of North Carolina...

1st, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary McNeely my Negro Eliza and Mary being minus? too children together with their future increase, and Mariah Phillis, youngest child with her future increase to her and her heirs forever.

2nd, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Hall my Negro Clary, His child and Cela Phillis' child with their future increase to her and her heirs forever.

4th, I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Henly Barr my Negro Charlotte now in her possession with one half of her increase...

5th, I give and devise unto my son Joseph Cowan...my Negroes Andrew and his wife Nice, Lucy, Adam, Lizey, Harry and Old Bob's and Hannah Bob's life time,..all the above Negroes except Hannah with their future increase to him his heirs and assigns forever.

6th, I devise to my son Abner B. Cowan...my Negro Jack and his wife Phillis, Jiny, Clowey, John and Frank...

7th, I devise unto my son John F. Cowan...my Negroes Prima and his wife Esther, Bob, Daniel, Zach, Ann, June and Ezra.  Also Hannah after Old Bob's death ...
