WILL OF DAVID COWAN (Rowan County, NC, Nov. 13, 1837, Book J, p.26) 3rdly, I also give and bequeath to my beloved Wife Margaret Cowan my Negro man Peter, my Negro woman Cresy and her youngest Child Laura Annie, and all the increase or by & from the said Negro woman Cresy to be and remain the right and property of my beloved Wife aforesaid during her life, or so long as she may or shall remain my widow, and after her death or marriage as the case may be all the aforesaid Negroes and increase to be valued and divided equally among my children by three men chosen by my three children namely David F. Cowan, Mary Graham and Elizabeth Hyde, to them and their heirs. 5thly, I give and bequeath to my son David F.
