Cooke-TN-1859-60 Chancery Court Records McMinn County, Tennessee Petition (Abstract) Filed 16 June 1859 James B. and Robert F. COOKE, administrators vs. Mary J., Eliza E., James B., and Hezekiah C. COOKE Hezekiah C. COOKE, Sr. died interstate in McMinn CO, 24 January 1859, leaving widow and children. Hezekiah was administrator of estate of a deceased sister, Elmira COOPER, who left four children. Petition - to sell slaves to pay debts. Hezekiah requested, from his death bed, the slaves be sold together by families. 20 February 1860 - administrators have not been able to sell negros at the price placed upon them. 7 January 1867 - County Court appoints William H. and John B. COOKE as administrators, in lieu of former administrators. Necessary to sell lands to pay debts. Homestead farm lies in McMinn and Polk Counties. Contributed by: "Marilyn P.
