Black Genealogy - CLOUD Family Hi Folks: While researching my CLOUD family line in SC and north AL, I found that my CLOUD family ancestors owned several slaves at various times. I also noticed that my great-great grandfather William CLOUD, who died in Nashville, TN around 1842 included a freedom clause in his will. All of his remaining slaves at the time of his death were to be given their freedom. He also instructed the executor of his will to see that they were transported to a free state. However, I don't think the freedom clause was executed because it was against public policy or law in TN; but I have not fully documented that conclusion. Descendants of slaves once owned by CLOUD family line members that resided in Fairfield Co. SC, or Madison Co. AL, or Nashville, TN during the first half of the 1800's may be named in the documents that I have collected on my CLOUD family line. For interested slave descendants, I will look up the given names of the CLOUD family slaves as shown in the documents that I have collected. Please be specific as to location.
