Aug. court, 1808:
Petition of WILLIAM BROWN, a free man of colour for
emancipation of his wife, COMFORT BROWN, and his free
children: WESLY, EDY, NOAH, and NANCY BROWN, for
meretricious services performed...Ordered by court that
petitioner, WILLIAM BROWN, have permission to emancipate and
set free his wife and children...upon giving bond and
security that they shall not become a charge upon the
county. Court hereby orders above mentioned persons set free
and entitled to all rights and priviledges...
