Will of Sarah BOWLES
Goochland Co., VA, 1833
In Name of God Amen: I Sarah BOWLES of the Co. of Goochland Va. do make and ordain this my last will and testament--revoking all other will or wills to witt:
I give to Elizabeth BOWLES, my sister, Mary, Jenney, Barnet, John Benjamin and Littleton [and] the room she now weaves in and half the kitchen furniture half the sitting room chairs half the sheep and half the hogs. I lend my old oxen and cattle to be appraised after my death and the value of same to be divided equally between Gideon Bowles BUNCH and Hannah Cruse BUNCH after marriage or death of said Elizabeth.
I give to sister Nancy BOWLES "the other half of the money received from sale of cart and plows is to pay my last debts"--the balance left, if any, to go to Nancy BOWLES.
Names "My Negro man GABRIEL--it is my will my Executors find him a good home and the money he may procure for his labor be taken care of to support him during his life if needed and if any left to be equally divided between Gideon Bowles BUNCH and Hannah Cruse BUNCH after decease of said Gabriel.]
Names Gideon Bowles BUNCH to rec. bed room furniture---if he dies before he receives it---to go to Hannah Cruse BUNCH.
Names Sister Mary MALLORY'S three daughters, Charity, Nancy, and Virginia to receive it if both of the above died before they get it.
I give Gideon Bowles BUNCH and Hannah Cruse BUNCH children of Pouncy BUNCH and Sarah MALLORY, my moiety of my father Gideon BOWLES'S estate----- ... Siby, George, Benjamin, and Kitty, (slaves) and future increase----should they die before of age then I give the aforesaid Legacy to my sister Molly MALLORY'S three daughters by Stephen MALLORY, Charity, Nancy and Virginia.
My desire is that my moiety of that part of my fathers estate to Clayburn and William BOWLES is for the benefit of Gideon Bowles BUNCH and Hannah C.BUNCH or if they die to three daughters of Sister MALLORY. It is my desire that of my executors that David BUNCH shall have no management of the before mentioned Legacy. Makes sisters Elizabeth and Nancy BOWLES executrixes and William and John HUGHES my Executors.
