Know all men by these presents that I WILLIAM ADAMS of the County of Shelby State of Kentucky have emancipated --------that free a certain Negro boy named CHARLES whom to enjoy the freedom from and after the 1st day of January 1841 he being at that time 21 years and 3 months old in testimony where I have hereunto my hand this 21 day of March 1820

signed WILLIAM ADAMS

The within deed of manumission was this day given in court and was acknowledged by William Adams his act & deed whereupon his name was duly recorded
