Robert De Costa Yard (1926-1990) was the second son of Harold and Ethel Yard. Born and raised in Harlem, Robert along with his two brothers, Clifford and Edward, worked very hard as teenagers and was known throughout the neighborhood as the "Yard Boys" because of their style of dancing.

After Robert served in the Army, he managed a couple of businesses in Harlem including a newspaper stand which he kept for many years.

Robert was survived by a son, Robert C. Yard (deceased), and a granddaughter, Nicole.
