Freedman Case Denied!!
After 3 years the case of Mrs. B. Riggs was decided upon by the Cherokee Courts. It has been learned that the decision was actually made in August of 2001, but the attorney has indicated that word just reached her recently.
This is the case where a woman of African and Cherokee ancestry has been denied citizenship in the Nation.
The case was denied by the Registrar who bases her decisions on CDIB cards. The plaintiff challenged this.
