Documenting Cherokee Ancestors from NC/GA/TN
The records of the Eastern Cherokee can be researched by accessing the Guion Miller Rolls. In addition, it is recommended that if names are not found on those rolls that persons should often remember to look at the records of persons who were also denied enrollment. Many persons mixed with African ancestry are found on those records of rejected claims.
In addition, I suggest that the works of Jerry Wright Jordan be investigated. She has documented and abstracted in more than 8 volumes the testimonies of the Eastern Cherokee nation.
Her books can be ordered from www.heritagebooks.com
Best wishes in the search.
