In doing research into my Chickasaw roots I came across a will for one of my ancestors in which she deeded certain slaves to her children. I only have their first names but would like to try to locate the descendants of these slaves so that I may try to make amends symbolically at least. My slave-owning relatives were Elizabeth "Betsey" Love Allen whose brothers Benjamin Love and Henry Love were notable men of the Chickasaw tribe. Elizabeth herself had a case go to the supreme court concerning the ownership of one of her slaves. Her daughter Mourning Tree Allen married a white man named Charles Gooding. They also owned slaves but I have no documents naming them. They moved from Mississippi to Oklahoma I.T. and lived in Chickasaw territory their whole lives. Any assistance would be appreciated!
