I, too am very interested in this, but am also new to this site. I had a hard time finding info for the state of Oklahoma. All I know about my background is that I have "Indian" blood. Not sure what tribe. Both maternal and paternal grandfathers came out of Oklahoma and settled in Arkansas(Johnson county). The nerve of people to try to hide dirty things in their ancestors past to make their own backgrounds look good. Everyone's ancestors made mistakes including Africans who sold other Africans. I also heard that was why some of the tribes lost their land after the civil war, for refusing to let their slaves go until after 1865. But like any other group, why can't we be allowed to findout the truth about our ancestors pasts. It's a shame that most of us know nothing past our grand or greatgrand parents. i'm 31yrs old, but my grandparents were all elderly when I was born.
So that makes my search that much more difficult, then to constantly face roadblocks makes it really discouraging. I had one recorder of a website to tell me he had nothing listed for the surname of my family in the state of Arkansas.
I told him I was living proof, the nerve of people to dictate your past to you. Yes, we must come together. This would be a great start.
