In Response To: Forming African-Native American Nation and Tribal ()
Its very interesting for one to think that the full bloods are the ones to deny; however in 1906 the full bloods of the Five civilized Tribes of Oklahoma wanted nothing to do with either race; the mixed bloods were the ones that were so set on denying the blacks to be part of the tribes. The mixed bloods of the German Dutch descent. In 1906 the full bloods of the 5 tribes requested of the government to be placed on their own land and let again the whites have Oklahoma (their promised land again)however the mixed bloods wanted to decide the fate of nation of proud people with their own culture to intermingle only with whites. Who if one is mixed with white at that time it made more sense for the tribe to announce that whiteness and denounce any other mixture. Chief McCurtain who was of mixed white blood according to Angie Debo wanted to go by the segregation "the grandfather clause" concept of the government. In order for all to believe that it was the full bloods it is better to pit the 2 against each other so that the real one would not be noticed. [14 feb 2001] Messages In This Thread
