I have seen the name Bumpus and Bumpass in Giles County Tennessee and also in Seveir County Arkansas. My BASS ancestors lived near some in Arkansas and it appears that they were sent to the same part of Arkansas around the same time from Tennessee. I have a feeling that the Bumpass clan in SW Arkansas had a relationship with my Arkansas BASS line. Note that Seveir County shared a border with Indian Territory which is now SE Oklahoma.
