Sad thing is, the majority of card carriers are just that...Card carriers with no real interest in their ancestral lines, culture or anything else but whatever that card allows them to receive from the white govt...The card doesn't convey history or culture, and not even the language, much less authenticity..Oral tradition does..
Once in awhile, old documents/letters do..and sometimes censuses help..But most of the time people find out who they are and who they come from through their parents and other family members..Those are the BEST sources to look to for finding out about one's own family history..
