Below are the two groups I defined in my post. You are either #1 or #2. If you are number one, then most of the post didn't apply to you and I give your efforts to find your ancestors, no matter who they turn out to be as honorable and worthwhile. If you are number two, then the rest of post was directed squarely at you and was meant to be filled with anger and disgust. If you cannot figure out why, then you have not read the post carefully enough.

#1 - A researcher ie genealogist is a scientist who will announce a hypothesis. The genealogist will say, I think I may have Native American ancestry based upon the oral traditions of my family and I will research, document and publish what I find no matter where it leads or what it says.

#2 - The wannabe will announce he has Native American ancestry based upon family oral tradition. He may or may not do research, but no matter what evidence there may be to the contrary or no evidence at all, he will hold fast to his proclamation because it has become part and parcel of his identity.
