SC surnames--Any Available Records?
This is a great site with the family stories/data-link info supplied.
I would like any information of the families below particularly Dewitts. Is there any possibility of anyone aware of them being listed on any of the available Native American rolls or not?
My great-greatgrandfather's name was OFFICER (Offey?) DEWITT--his children were Boson (Boason Boasonnaire) Alvie/Alva Earl and Jean. The children of BOSON & BRIDIE MAE (McCrae) DEWITT are Lethia (my grandmother) Clem Jesse Nancy (Ivy) Gracie Roscoe. The family lived particularly in Horry and possibly surrounding counties; Boson DEWITT was said to be a minister; of what church I'm not sure of at this time. It may have been Oak Grove Baptist Church which I think is now named Cherry Hill. . . of which I was told was the family church. Boson and Bridie Mae (McCrae) DEWITT were said to have owned a store. Combined this family and those listed below are of multi-heritage--so any information via servitude slavery Native/African American is welcomed. The Dewitts are listed as mulatto on the 1910-1920 U.S. Census records.
I would love to find a connection. Please note all other names thus far in my search.
DEWITT Jean (Halistean)(married a Smith).
Jesse Bellamy married Lethia Dewitt.
Again information or connections to these names is greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch.
