Re: Black Seminoles Voted out of Nation
In Response To: Re: Black Seminoles Voted out of Nation ()
Jatana, I felt the same way at one time about Native Americans discriminating against any one. Then I took the year of 2003 checking out the 5 Civilized Tribes in Oklahoma and did I get a reality check! I found that on the whole, there are very few full- blooded Inians with any political power. The power is held by the Mixed Breeds (The White Indian) and their dicriminating practices are still inbedded in them from the days before the Civil War. I will say that in the Seminole Nation, the blood has not been as diluted as in the other 4 Nations. But money and greed are the motivaton of keeping Black out. Today in 2004 if a count was made, one would find that there are just about as many Black Indians of ancestry as there are White Indians. Yes, unity is the key. Just keep in mind that we live in this U.S.A. and we must deal with all the races, so there must come the time that we all can sit down together and smoke the Pipe of Peace! There are a number of groups that would just love to have you as a member: Freedmen Descendants of the 5 Civilized Tribes, Inc. and Descendants Of Freedmen Of The 5 Civilized Tribes.
