Choctaw Chickasaw Slaves
I am trying to locate the descendants of my relatives by their slave woman. It is my attempt to bring these individuals into the family fold and close a chapter on my families history in a proper perspective. In particular I am looking for a John Thompson the son of my gr.gr. grandfather Lemuel Turner Thompson by one of his or his uncle Archibalds slaves. John continued to live close to his father until after LT's death in 1872. John would have been born in 1846. Since he was living in Texas he is not listed as a Freedman among the Chickasaw or Choctaw as we are descended from both.
The next one is a man named Jackson McCoy the son of Judge James McCoy (Supreme Judge of the Chickasaw Nation) by his slave Sally Christian. Jackson may indeed be listed on the Freedmen rolls but I have not identified him to date. James McCoy was the brother of my gr. gr. gr. grandmother Margaret McCoy-Thompson
The last is by a more distant relative that lived near our family in Texas. THis was on the Cherokee side. I am looking for the descendants of Rus Muckelroy who lived near Kilgore Texas. He is the son of John Martin Thompson (grandson of John Martin first Chief Justice of the Cherokee Nation) by Charlotte Sample who was the slave of John's stepmother. I have photo's of them. In all cases once the father died the family broke ties with them and I have no ideas as to where their descendants are today.
If you have heard of these people or in the future come across their descendants please let me know. We will be having a large family gathering at the Chickasaw Complex in Ada Oklahoma next summer and I would like to include them.
