I am searching for any information on the surname PERRY. My ancestors were Chickasaw Freedmen from Tishomingo area. I am in search of any branches or twigs from the PERRY tree. There is a town near Tishomingo in southeastern Oklahoma which was begun by Chickasaw Freedmen. The town name lives on but little else. The name of the "spot" is WILEY. I have discovered in my search that some Chickasaw-Choctaw Freedmen census do exist. I do believe that at least the 1885 census copy may be obtained by ordering it from the local Family History Center of the Mormon Church (Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints). My local Family History Center has proven to be a great blessing to me. It is nice to know that I am not alone in my search for the Black-Red Connection.
