I am researching my son's Cherokee Freedmen (slaves) ancestors and one of his lines is Owens.

According to the Dawes Rolls of Cherokee Freedmen:

Rebecca (11 yrs) and Susie (7 yrs) Owens were the daughters of Jerry Owens (? yrs) and Mary Hardrick (28).

Charles (2 wks) Erman (1 yr) Ernest (11 yrs) Livius (13 yrs) Lloyd (7 yrs) Susan (9 yrs) and Zelia (3 yrs) Owens were the children of
Squire (44 yrs) and Lizzie (34 yrs) nee: Ross Owens.

Squire was the son of John and Malinda Owens. Lizzie was the daughter of Frank and Susan Ross. More info available on the Ross'.
