Some general information on Opothole Yaholo---
Note that Opotholeyahola is the name of a very famous chief in the Creek Nation. He led a delegation of refugees in to Canada during the Civil War---consisting of Creek Indians and their slaves. Many of them joined the 1st 2nd and 3rd Indian Home Guards---the only Union regiments from Indian Territory. The remainina 8 Indian regiments were Confedertes. For a list of some the Black soldiers who served in the Indian Home Guards see my we page at: Black Soldiers from the Loyal Creek Claims
There are many pictures of Opotholeyahola in history books on the Creek Nation. He also owned many slaves some of whom later fought with the Indian Home Guards in the Civil War.
A good reference book is Africans and Creeks by Dr. Daniel T. Littlfield.
