The history of the Oklahoma Freedmen received a little bit of exposure this weekend in the Sunday November 21 1999 issue of Parade Magazine.

The Family of Samuel & Sallie Walton was featured in the Parade article and their life story is detailed in the website--www.myhistory.org

This freedman family is featured in a project sponsored by the National Endowment of the Humanities and the White House Millenium Council. The Sallie Walton story exposes the history of the former slaves of Indian Territory.
