Does anyone have information on the Everett Family

My father was full-blooded native. 1/2 Blackfee and 1/2 Choctaw. My mother's family were slaves but I have no information about any of them as my grandmother fled slavery to NY and never talked much to her children so there wasn't much to learn. My father's parents were Will Everett and Addie Herron (her maiden name). My dad was born in Choctaw County MS. Records were burned there so I have come up empty handed. My parents are both deceased and I'm trying to find relatives. I know the Everett family owned some land on which there were turpentine trees. The family tapped the trees for the turpentine sap and sold it. My dad's name was Herman ('Gene') Everett and he left Mississippi when he was a young kid and enlisted in the Army. I know there were several brothers and I think a couple of sisters but I only know a couple of names and have been unable to locate any additional information. Raymond was my dad's favorite brother and he had a couple of other brothers Floyd and Rovertus (spelling??) and some other brothers and sisters who were from a previous marriage of one of my grandparents I don't know which one.

If you can offer me any assistance on how to go about tracking down my ancestry it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
