I was told by my father (long dead now God rest his soul) that my paternal grandmother Lucinda Averett Morton was half Choctaw. I have been unable to find any info on her. I was told she lived in a place called Church Hill in Virginia (later found this was part of Richmond). Does anyone have Mortons or Averetts in their records or know of an Afro-Choctaw community in Richmond around the late 1890's to early 1910's? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a "brick wall" in my genealogical research.
