Re: Cemetaries for Chickasaw & Choctaw Freedman?

Do any of you know of the James Cemetery located south of Davis, OK. There are a lot of the freedman Indians buried there as well. Most of them are from the Mahardy family.. I know that the old man Sam Mahardy and his family is there. Betsy Mahardy and her family is also buried there. Betsy Mahardy is in the book used for Freedman research. She was a Seminole and Chickasaw Freedman. Sam Mahardy suit the government because they placed him and his family on the freedman rolls. He said that he had always been considered a Chickasaw by blood. Because his mother had enrolled in the Seminole freedman tribe, the Dawes commission removed him and enrolled him as a freedman. This was so wrong for him. If you look at some of the old voting rolls and Chickasaw rolls, Sam Mahardy is located thereon.
Please check out the James Cemetery south of Davis, OKlahoma.
