Re: Boone
In Response To: Re: Boone ()

Hi,
My husband is the grgrgreatgrandson of Maryan Boon who married Mills Parker, grgreatgrandson of Elisha Boon/Parker and the greatgrandson of Addie Parker Harrison. All were from Gates, Nansemond and Southampton Counties. Maryan Boon was born in the 1820s. Mills Parker was not the father of her children, but some chose to use the Parker name. I don't know the names of Maryan's parents. Elisha Boon/Parker married Rosetta Copeland, daughter of Joanna Copeland. Her relative Eva Copeland married into the Benjamin Weaver family which are Native American. I always wonder if the Copelands or Boons were also part Native American especially since they were free people of color.

My husband recently has done DNA testing. His results from DNAPrint indicate that he is 14% Native American. We are trying to find out who in his family is responsible for that. The surnames in his family are Copeland, Howell, Boon/Parker,Threadgill, Williams, Horn, and Polk. All are from either the VA/NC border or the NC/SC border.

There are some photos of the family posted on my website.

Do you have any more information on your Boon family? There are several family members who are doing research that are from that area.
